I have probably already mentioned or you have already figured it out but I finally made the switch to Word Press. I know I haven’t lost my followers and that it directs them to my site but because I’ve had several people tell me that they haven’t gotten updates and I can’t see my google followers anymore, I am freaking out a little.
I know it isn’t about the followers or the numbers (I lost my page views from blogger and had to start over and I was nearing 50,000) but when I write, it feels good to know someone is reading. I was averaging a lot more than two comments a post before I left so that tells me that readers might not be getting my updates.
If you want to get updates and you used to be a google follower and are no longer seeing me in your reader, put your email in the “Subscribe” box and you’ll get an email when I write something new. If you are on Facebook and we are friends, you’ll get it in my status updates. If you are on Facebook and we aren’t friends, you can click “Like” over there on the side and you’ll get it that way. I also post it on Twitter so you can follow me that way, too.
Just want you all to know that I appreciate that you are reading and it makes me feel good to get feedback and know you are out there so thank you!
Any Word Press users have any advice? Any widgets that are a must have? Any plugins (I have looked at the forums and got some good advice there but just want to cover all bases)? Or just tell me that it was a smart move.

I’m no help when it comes to the technology piece of things. I’m just muddling through the blogging thing myself.
I started in January when I was home on maternity leave. You can only watch the same infomercials at 2 AM so many times before you need to move on . . . if ya know what I mean.
I’ve been able to get your updates through Google and through email. Good luck on the switch over. You’re BRAVE!!! I’m still trying to figure out how to use the Facebook page correctly.
Thanks for commenting. Glad you are still getting the updates. I wonder why some aren’t? I’ve already switched. I’m just dealing with the changes since the switch. I know it’s where I need to be but it is taking some getting used to. I’m already liking a lot of the changes and would recommend it. I still haven’t learned how to use the Facebook page.
And a thank you back to you for writing such great posts–love reading you, wherever you find your home!
Oh, you are so sweet!Thank you! I have found my home here on Word Press and glad you are able to find me.
Smart move. Not many suggestions – you’ll get it!
Thanks Robin. I’m getting there.
Are you using Google analytics as a way to track your followers, too? I can see my views on WordPress, but I think it is helpful to compare the traffic with the Google analytics side and see how they shape up. Hang in there, changing up things is tough!
I am but I don’t see it anywhere. I installed that plug in but can’t find any of the info. God, I feel dumb.
I had to sign up through Google Analytics itself. Try doing that.

When I switched to WordPress last year I was clueless. Then it started clicking. You’ll get it, I promise. In the meantime? You know where to find me
Yes, but you, my friend will be very busy loving on that new baby of yours! I’m not going to bug you with my ineptness (don’t know if that is a real word but it fits).
When I first started I chose wordpress- the free version. I just bought a domain and have a MAIN site with a store and everything, but still keep the wordpress blog. I can NOT figure out how to transfer it, even though the site is a wordpress supported thing. I know just enough to be dangerous, I’m afraid!
I highly recommend Ashley at My Front Porch Swing! She is awesome and will work with you on doing it.
Although I can’t give you a WordPress solution, I just wanted to comment so you knew you had a follower still around!
But the issue you came across is the reason I haven’t made the switch yet!
Aw…I love that you commented to tell me you are still here! Thank you. It means so much. Even though I have come across a few glitches, I’d still recommend it. Owning my own content is worth it! If you ever want to, let me know and I can direct you to someone that makes it painless.
I talked to Roche today and found out about the move.
I’ve got a lot of catching up to do!
It was exactly what I needed to do and has taken some adjusting but I am really happy with it.
